Stump Fence Co, is a group we would happily use again and whole-heartedly recommend to others. We engaged them to replace the old, deteriorating fencing around our property, a 108 year-old Craftsman that we have restored. From the initial conversations about the type of fencing and all related details (e.g., double-sided, stained, painted or sealed? design of the arbor, choice of hardware, as well as cost, etc.) and throughout the decision-making process, Matt Stump was patient and thorough in answering our questions, providing pros and cons and other helpful information, thus, clarifying our options. Once decisions had been made and the work scheduled, Miguel and Ysidro were sent to remove and install. Here, the quality of the company was equally impressive. Several challenges confronted the crew: 1) having to work around a fully landscaped property (hundreds of flowering plants and bushes and a dozen trees), many of them bordering our lap pool and 2) a very difficult neighbor, who initially refused to allow the crew, quite literally, to step foot on her side of the property line. Despite these challenges, M and Y remained unflustered, courteous, professional throughout, working just as considerately and carefully--once she allowed it--on her property as well as our own; and they managed to win her over in the process. But perhaps one of the truest indicators of the quality of a company is how they respond when something unexpectedly goes wrong. Here again, Stump Fence was impressive. Towards the end of the project, the shop mistakenly delivered a load of unsealed Redwood boards (ours were all to have been sealed); and they were installed before I noticed and called attention to the different hue of the unsealed wood. Long story short, Stump Fence readily and without defensiveness owned the mistake, apologized and--though it meant removing two, extensive, painstakingly-completed sections, running half the length of the pool and then down the side of another property line--loaded them up, took them back to the shop to be properly sealed overnight--and then returned to rebuild those sections! And the crew still managed to finish the project only a day later than estimated. The new fence is just as beautiful and functional as we had hoped; and after twenty years of renovations in various homes across the country, we count Stump Fence among a handful of contractors that we would without hesitation engage again and recommend highly to others!
